What? Monday again???

What happened to last week? I can't believe it is Monday evening ... I have been kinda busy last week and this is the first LO I did only in the mornings before leaving for work. The pictures feature a roller coaster ride in the Prater - Diane informed me that it was a 'must' to ride as - according to her sources - nearly every child in Vienna will have this lovely experience when little.

The best bit about this ride is that it is so original and the trainconductor is sitting in the last carriage and breaks with a huge old lever... It is a wooden ride commonly called "Zwergerlhochschaubahn" and it features the place where the seven dwarfs from Snow White reside and work :)

Wo ist die letzte Woche hin verschwunden? Unglaublich, dass es schon wieder Montagabend ist... Ich war nicht untätig letzte Woche und dies ist das erste LO, das ich morgens vor der Arbeit gemacht habe. Auf den Fotos ist eine Achterbahn im Prater verewigt - Diane hat mir gesagt, dass diese Achterbahn obligatorisch ist, da - ihren Quellen zufolge - fast jedes kleine Kind in Wien einmal damit fährt.

Das Beste an dieser Achterbahn ist, dass es sich um ein 'Original' handelt. Der Zugführer sitzt mit im Abteil und betätigt einen Bremshebel von Hand... Der Name der Holzachterbahn ist im Volksmund "Zwergerlhochschaubahn" und zeigt den Lebensraum der sieben Zwerge aus Schneewittchen.

On a roll

At the moment I'm going through a phase where most of my LOs come easily and are not that much of a struggle - my perfectionism can sometimes hinder me quite a bit.

Momentan hab ich eine Phase, in der mir meine LOs nicht so schwer fallen - mein Perfektionismus kann mich sonst manchmal ganz schön einschränken.

With this double LO I have managed to scrap all my pictures from the trip to Germany, yay! As with the LOs before, the journalling was very important and so I included as much as possible.

Mit diesem Doppellayout hab ich es geschafft, alle meine Bilder von dem Trip nach Deutschland zu scrappen, juchuh! Wie bei den anderen LOs auch, war mir das Journalling hier sehr wichtig und ich habe deshalb möglichst viel davon untergebracht.

Maj-Britt gave us a new challenge in the PBF which was not that easy to fulfil. 1 CS, 3 PP, 3 pictures, a title consisting of 3 words, 3 ribbons, 3 stamped images, 3 flowers, 3 brads, 3 buttons - all on one LO! And surprise, surprise: I found a few more Stratford pictures that I had wanted to scrap...

Im PBF hat Maj-Britt uns eine neue Challenge gegeben, die nicht so einfach zu erfüllen war. 1 CS, 3 PP, 3 Bilder, ein Titel, der aus 3 Worten besteht, 3 Ribbons, 3 Stempelabdrücke, 3 Blumen, 3 Brads, 3 Knöpfe - alles auf einem LO! Überraschung: Ich hab doch tatsächlich noch ein paar Stratford Bilder gefunden, die ich scrappen wollte...

And on we go with the older pictures that I still needed to scrap - Mum making her yummy pancakes on Pancake Day this year. I experimented with a Tim Holtz mask and my new Maya Mists but you can only see a glimpse of it in the upper left corner.

Und weiter geht es mit älteren Bildern, die ich noch scrappen wollte - Mama, wie sie dieses Jahr ihre leckeren Pfannekuchen am "Pfannkuchentag" (der Tag vor Aschermittwoch) gemacht hat. Ich habe ein wenig mit einer Tim Holtz Mask und meinen neuen Maya Mists experimentiert, aber man kann davon nur ein bisschen in der Ecke links oben erahnen.

My second LO with Studio Calico's July kit. I used a sketch from the PBF Sunday challenge and it was fun again. Nicole remarked later that the basic shape of the LO looks a bit like a train, thus mirroring the subject :)

Hier ist mein zweites LO mit dem Juli Kit von Studio Calico. Ich habe einen Sketch aus der Sonntagabend-Challenge im PBF genommen und wieder Spaß dabei. Nicole hat später gesagt, dass von der Grundform her das LO ein wenig wie eine Lok aussieht und damit das Thema des LOs widerspiegelt :)

Christmas in July?

This is my second LO from the short trip to Germany last year. For me the journalling was important, so I used two tags. Not one of my favourite LOs but I don't cringe when I see it ;)

Das ist mein zweites LO von unserem Kurztrip nach Deutschland im letzten Jahr. Für mich war vor allem das Journalling wichtig, weshalb ich zwei Tags benutzt habe. Nicht eines meiner Lieblingslayouts, aber ich zucke nicht zusammen, wenn ich es sehe ;)

Yesterday evening there was another challenge in the Paperbraut forum - scrap monochrome in green, yellow or pink... Not an easy task! I don't really use yellow often in LO's but it went well with these pictures from the Mathias Church in Budapest.

Gestern Abend gab es wieder eine Challenge im PBF - monochrom scrappen und zwar in grün, gelb oder rosa... Keine einfache Aufgabe! Ich benutze gelb nicht oft in LOs, aber es hat gut zu den Bilder von der Matthias Kirche in Budapest gepasst.

My scrapping week

I know I've said it before but this whole being able to do stuff for the blog before work thing is great. I didn't do a lot last week but still wanted to share the bits I can share.

Ich weiß, ich wiederhole mich, aber es ist einfach toll, vor der Arbeit am Blog werkeln zu können. Ich habe letzte Woche nicht allzu viel gemacht, wollte aber ein paar Sachen zeigen.

I had these pictures of Diane and me taking a ride in a giant ferris wheel in the Prater (not THE giant ferris wheel with the cabins but instead an open one; the famous one is in the background of the picture at the top). These American Crafts papers shouted "Use me, use me" for the LO, so I complied. It is quite busy but I think it captures the fairground atmosphere.

Das American Crafts Papier auf diesem LO hat gebettelt, zusammen mit meinen Fotos vom Prater benutzt zu werden. Diane und ich sind mit dem Riesenrad gefahren (nicht dem berühmten, das man im Hintergrund auf einem der Fotos sieht) und haben ein paar Fotos gemacht. Ich finde das Papier unterstreicht den Kirmesfaktor.

Our July Studio Calico kit arrived last week and I grabbed the opportunity to play with it before Diane. I love this kit, it all matches so well and I don't need to go searching for stuff in my stash. Loved it so much that we have re-subscribed (cancelled all our other subscriptions apart from Cleo Crafts though).

Letzte Woche ist unser Juli Kit von Studio Calico angekommen und ich habe es mir zuerst geschnappt und habe damit gearbeitet. Ich liebe dieses Kit, alles passt so gut zusammen und ich muss nicht anfangen, nach Sachen in meinem Stash zu kramen. Wir mögen es so sehr, dass wir unser Abo wieder aufgenommen haben (leider mussten dafür alle anderen außer Cleo Crafts gehen).

I made this LO for last week's blog challenge over at Cleo Crafts. As I noticed that I tend to start doing more and more single or double photo layouts, I also challenged myself to do a multi-photo LO.

Dieses LO ist für Cleo Crafts' Blog Challenge von letzter Woche entstanden. Da ich festgestellt habe, dass ich mehr und mehr LOs mit einem oder zwei Fotos mache, hab ich gedacht, es muss mal eins mit vielen her.

And this is another one with multiple photos. This LO made me fall in love with my repositionable Herma. I won't go into details but it was a bliss and I'm so much more happy now :)

Und gleich noch eins mit vielen Fotos. Mein neuer bester Freund ist mein repositionable Herma Kleber. Ich möchte mich nicht im Detail verlieren, aber er war meine Rettung und ich bin jetzt viel glücklicher mit meinem LO :)

Challenge

Cleo Crafts had a challenge on their blog to create a LO of a capital city. This was the perfect challenge for me as my "to scrap" pile includes a lot of pictures from Budapest, Vienna and some from Belfast. Here is what I came up with:

Cleo Crafts hatten diese Woche die Challenge auf ihrem Blog, ein LO zu einer Hauptstadt zu machen. Das war die perfekte Challenge für mich, weil momentan mein "Verscrap mich" Stapel viele Bilder von Budapest und Wien und ein paar von Belfast enthält. Hier sind meine LOs:

My LO for Budapest - some pictures I took during our round-trip with one of those sightseeing buses.

Mein LO für Budapest - das sind Bilder, die auf unserer Rundfahrt mit einem der Sightseeing Busse gemacht habe.

A double layout for Belfast - I couldn't decide which photos to put on which side and in the end decided to have them all on one page and the journalling on the other.

Ein Doppellayout für Belfast - ich konnte mich nicht entscheiden, welche Fotos auf welche Seite kommen sollen und habe mich letztendlich entschieden, sie alle auf eine Seite zu machen und das Journalling auf die andere.

Louise emailed me a couple of hours to say that my LO of Belfast had won the challenge! The prize is some extra spending money for the shop which I will put to good use :)

Louise hat mir vor ein paar Stunden eine Email geschickt, um zu sagen, dass mein LO von Belfast die Challenge gewonnen hat! Der Preis ist ein Gutschein für den Shop, den ich bestimmt gut nutzen werde :)

Seasonal mix

I started this LO before work and I'm not happy with the end result. Even though I used papers from the same collection, the colours don't match as much as I'd like to. The pictures were taken on Castle Hill in Budapest.

Ich habe dieses LO vor der Arbeit angefangen und bin nicht so zufrieden mit dem Ergebnis. Obwohl Papiere aus einer Kollektion genommen habe, passen die Farben nicht so gut zusammen, wie ich es mir wünschen würde. Die Bilder wurden auf dem Schlossberg in Budapest gemacht.

It may be July but my last photo order (the one with the bad pictures) includes pictures from our trip to Germany last November/December. I decided I needed to scrap these in order to be able to focus on newer photos. There'll be at least two more LOs from this trip.

The basis of the LO was a sketch by Anja in the PBF. It was for a single picture but not difficult to adjust.

Es ist zwar Juli, aber bei meiner letzten Fotobestellung (die mit den schlechten Bildern) waren Bilder von unserem Kurztrip nach Deutschland im November/Dezember letzten Jahres dabei. Ich habe beschlossen, dass ich diese Bilder scrappen muss, damit ich mich danach auf neuere Fotos konzentrieren kann. Es wird noch mindestens zwei weitere LOs von diesem Trip geben.

Als Basis fürs LO hat ein Sketch von Anja im PBF gedient. Es war zwar eigentlich für ein LO mit einem Foto gedacht, aber es war nicht schwer, ihn anzupassen.

Random post is random

This is my first LO with the Studio Calico June kit. Like Nicole, I'm in love with it and it was not difficult to create some pages with it. The only thing I'm disappointed with is the photos I'm using. I ordered them online as usual but the majority of them came out really bad - dark and grainy. I complained to the company, it went back and forth, and now they're basically saying that the problem is in my screen settings. "Funny" though, that the pictures look exactly the same on my work screen as on this screen and that a print we got on holiday has the same picture with a lot more detail and colour... Won't be ordering from the again in the future.

Das ist mein erstes LO mit dem Juni Kit von Studio Calico. Wie Nicole auch, bin ich total begeistert von dem Kit und es war einfach, damit Seiten zu machen. Ich bin nur etwas enttäuscht von den Fotos, die ich benutzt habe. Ich habe sie wie immer online bestellt, aber der Großteil ist sehr schlecht geworden - so dunkel und grobkörnig. Ich habe mich bei der Firma beschwert, es ist hin und her gegangen, und im Endeffekt wollen sie das Problem jetzt auf meine Bildschirmeinstellungen schieben. Ist nur komisch, dass die Bilder auf meinem Bildschirm im Büro genauso wie hier aussehen; außerdem hatten wir von einem der Bilder auch schon im Urlaub einen Abzug machen lassen und der hat deutlich mehr Details und Farben... Werde von der Firma nichts mehr bestellen.

Shop Crop Delight

That was fun :) - our first shop crop at Scrapbook Sisters. I packed our June Kit from Studio Calico and a few extras and my newly ordered photos.

Unser erster Shopcrop mit den Scrapbook Sisters hat Spaß gemacht. Ich hatte das Juni Kit von Studio Calico und ein paar Extras eingepackt und frisch bestellte Fotos.

The next three LOs feature piccies from our company's trip to Hever Castle last month - it was our kick off for the new financial year with lunch and activities - pity work isn't like this every day...

Die folgenden drei LOs sind von unserem Firmenausflug zum Hever Castle im letzten Monat. Es war der Start zum neuen Finanzjahr mit Mittag fassen und Aktivitäten - zu Schade, dass nicht jeder Arbeitstag so ist ...

As I was finished with Hever before the crop came to an end, I started on the pictures of our Cleo Crafts retreat in NI earlier this year - it shows the piccies taken in Belfast before heading off with the girls.

Da ich mit den Hever Fotos durch war, bevor der Crop vorbei war, habe ich angefangen die Foto von Belfast zu scrappen, die Anfang des Jahres enstanden sind, als wir auf dem Retreat von Cleo Crafts in Nordirland waren.

The benefit of working "late" shift

Whoopee, I can post in the morning before leaving for work (my manager has asked us to start work later during the next two months, meaning starting around 09:30 instead of 07:30) - so much time on my hand - might even start scrapping in the morning :)

Juhuu, ich habe morgens Zeit zu posten, bevor ich zur Arbeit fahre (mein Manager hat uns gebeten für die nächsten zwei Monate gegen 09:30 statt 07:30 Uhr anzufangen) - vielleicht scrappe ich ja demnächst morgens :)

For the next two LOs I used one of the kits still sitting in my paperbank waiting to be used and my newly acquired apron lace border punch - I scrapped Diane's birthday last year.

Für die nächsten zwei LOs habe ich eines der Kits genutzt, die noch darauf warten verarbeitet zu werden - und meinen neu erworbenen Apron Lace Border Punch - das Thema ist Dianes Geburtstag letztes Jahr.

And I had to use my new cosmic shimmer watercolor paints on chipboard - love the effect :)

Ausserdem musste ich einfach meine neue Cosmic Shimmer Wasserfarbe auf Chipboard ausprobieren - ich mag den Effekt, den diese hat :)

Ohh, and I still have piccies from Stratford looking at me asking to be scrapped - I settled for the ones featuring our food...

Ahhh, ich habe immer noch Fotos von Stratford, die mich anschauen und betteln verscrappt zu werden; ich habe mich den Essensbildern erbarmt...

"Reveal"

The latest (and for the time being my last) round of Chinese Whispers at PBF has been revealed, so I can show my LO here. The colours on the photo don't really do the LO justice, I think I will need to start looking into the camera's manual a bit more. The photos were taken in a restaurant in Budapest that had some gorgeous food. We actually went there twice during our stay :)

Eine Scrapliftzirkelrunde im PBF ist gerade beendet (und momentan ist das meine letzte Runde gewesen) und ich kann mein LO zeigen. Die Farben auf dem Foto sind nicht so wie auf dem LO; ich muss also wahrscheinlich mal genauer die Anleitung von der Kamera lesen. Die Fotos wurden in einem Restaurant in Budapest gemacht, in dem es super leckeres Essen gab. Wir sind in unserem Urlaub sogar zweimal da gewesen.

Victory

It only took me something like 5 or 6 weeks but I finally managed to finish the LO I started back in Budapest. It doesn't look anything like it was originally planned but I'm happy that it's done!

Es hat ja nur so 5 oder 6 Wochen gedauert, aber ich habe endlich das LO fertig bekommen, das ich in Budapest angefangen hatte. Es sieht so überhaupt nicht aus, wie ursprünglich geplant, aber ich bin froh, dass es fertig ist!

I used a Prima lollipop flower on a LO! We've got a modest selection of them (meaning 4 or 5 maybe) and always thought that I just can't put them on a LO. Hah, I've just proven the opposite to myself :)

Ich habe eine Prima Lollipop Flower auf einem LO benutzt! Wir haben eine kleine Auswahl von denen (also so 4 oder 5 vielleicht) und ich dachte immer, dass ich sie einfach nicht auf ein LO packen kann. Hah, ich hab mir wohl gerade das Gegenteil bewiesen :)

I took that horrible picture of myself because I wanted to document that holidays aren't always just fun. The journalling explains a bit more. The metro ticket isn't that red in reality, but the weird orang-y colour didn't match the LO, so I inked it.

Das fürchterliche Foto von mir habe ich gemacht, weil ich festhalten wollte, dass Urlaub nicht immer nur Spaß bedeutet. Im Journalling steht mehr dazu. Das Metro Ticket ist übrigens nicht so rot "in echt", aber weil das komische orange nicht zum LO gepasst hat, hab ich es geinkt.

It feels like the two things we did most in Budapest was walking, walking, walking and resting. After the first day our feet had already started hurting, so it wasn't always easy to get up again after a short rest.

Vom Gefühl her sind wir in Budapest rumgelaufen, rumgelaufen, rumgelaufen und haben uns ausgeruht. Schon nach dem ersten Tag hatten unsere Füße angefangen weh zu tun, so dass es nicht immer einfach war, nach einer kurzen Pause wieder aufzustehen.
