I've been a pretty bad blogger these last few months. Nevertheless I wanted to share the layouts I made - since it's quite a few, I thought it would be easiest in a slideshow:

Weekday mornings

I had some fairly productive mornings this week - that came a bit as a surprise but was very welcome!

Ich hatte diese Woche ein paar ziemlich produktive Morgen, was mich selbst ein wenig überrascht hat. Willkommen war es aber trotzdem!

I started off on Monday with this LO - the second LO about our food in Stratford... I like this owl paper from American Crafts but it wasn't that easy to use in.

Am Montag habe ich mit diesem LO angefangen - das zweite LO über unser Essen in Stratford... Ich mag dieses Eulenpapier von American Crafts, aber es war nicht so einfach unterzubringen.

On Tuesday I completed this page. With all the overlapping elements, I was very happy to have my repositionable Herma... I also managed to use a bingo card AND pins ;)

Am Dienstag habe ich diese Seite fertig gemacht. Bei den ganzen überlappenden Elementen war ich ziemlich froh, dass ich Repositionable Herma habe... Ich hab es geschafft, eine Bingo Karte und Nadeln zu benutzen ;)

Wednesday came with another LO from Stratford - this is now hopefully really the last set of pictures but who knows what will turn up... The pictures are very blurry and grainy because I couldn't use flash in the theatre but it's the memories that count! I used a sketch Anja posted in the PBF.

Mittwoch war dann ein weiteres LO von Stratford an der Reihe - das sind jetzt hoffentlich wirklich die letzten Fotos, aber wer weiß, was da noch auftaucht... Die Bilder sind unscharf und grobkörnig, weil ich im Theater keinen Blitz benutzen konnte, aber die Erinnerung zählt! Ich habe Anjas Sketch aus dem PBF benutzt.

And here we have Thursday. I didn't feel like scrapping wintery pictures but also wanted them gone so to say. The snowflake made out of buttons took a while to glue down :)

Und hier ist jetzt Donnerstag. Mir war zwar nicht nach winterlichen Bildern, aber ich will sie eigentlich auch weg haben. Die Schneeflocke aus Knöpfen hat mich beim Aufkleben ganz schön beschäftigt :)

On a roll

At the moment I'm going through a phase where most of my LOs come easily and are not that much of a struggle - my perfectionism can sometimes hinder me quite a bit.

Momentan hab ich eine Phase, in der mir meine LOs nicht so schwer fallen - mein Perfektionismus kann mich sonst manchmal ganz schön einschränken.

With this double LO I have managed to scrap all my pictures from the trip to Germany, yay! As with the LOs before, the journalling was very important and so I included as much as possible.

Mit diesem Doppellayout hab ich es geschafft, alle meine Bilder von dem Trip nach Deutschland zu scrappen, juchuh! Wie bei den anderen LOs auch, war mir das Journalling hier sehr wichtig und ich habe deshalb möglichst viel davon untergebracht.

Maj-Britt gave us a new challenge in the PBF which was not that easy to fulfil. 1 CS, 3 PP, 3 pictures, a title consisting of 3 words, 3 ribbons, 3 stamped images, 3 flowers, 3 brads, 3 buttons - all on one LO! And surprise, surprise: I found a few more Stratford pictures that I had wanted to scrap...

Im PBF hat Maj-Britt uns eine neue Challenge gegeben, die nicht so einfach zu erfüllen war. 1 CS, 3 PP, 3 Bilder, ein Titel, der aus 3 Worten besteht, 3 Ribbons, 3 Stempelabdrücke, 3 Blumen, 3 Brads, 3 Knöpfe - alles auf einem LO! Überraschung: Ich hab doch tatsächlich noch ein paar Stratford Bilder gefunden, die ich scrappen wollte...

And on we go with the older pictures that I still needed to scrap - Mum making her yummy pancakes on Pancake Day this year. I experimented with a Tim Holtz mask and my new Maya Mists but you can only see a glimpse of it in the upper left corner.

Und weiter geht es mit älteren Bildern, die ich noch scrappen wollte - Mama, wie sie dieses Jahr ihre leckeren Pfannekuchen am "Pfannkuchentag" (der Tag vor Aschermittwoch) gemacht hat. Ich habe ein wenig mit einer Tim Holtz Mask und meinen neuen Maya Mists experimentiert, aber man kann davon nur ein bisschen in der Ecke links oben erahnen.

My second LO with Studio Calico's July kit. I used a sketch from the PBF Sunday challenge and it was fun again. Nicole remarked later that the basic shape of the LO looks a bit like a train, thus mirroring the subject :)

Hier ist mein zweites LO mit dem Juli Kit von Studio Calico. Ich habe einen Sketch aus der Sonntagabend-Challenge im PBF genommen und wieder Spaß dabei. Nicole hat später gesagt, dass von der Grundform her das LO ein wenig wie eine Lok aussieht und damit das Thema des LOs widerspiegelt :)

I just had to play with chipboard and use this paper for this picture to capture the process of grinding and roughness - and the fact that I had an A "star" day:

Nächstes Mal überleg ich lieber zweimal, bevor ich Diane um eine richtig schwere Aufgabe bitte; sie hat mir eine gestellt, und was für eine!

Among others I had to use mainly green and yellow, 5 patterned papers, 9 pictures and other restrictions did also apply - but the result is as I would say - not too bad considering the circumstances...

Unter anderem musste ich hauptsächlich in Grün und Gelb scrappen, musste 5 Patterned Papers und 9 Fotos nutzen, und es gab noch viele andere Vorgaben - Aber ich bin zufrieden mit dem Ergebnis:

This was a fun weekend and I made loads of layouts – most of them have been inspired by blog challenges on the Studio Calico design team member’s blogs.

Yet another round of Chinese Whispers

I started this LO for one of the Chinese Whispers rounds in the PBF during the Cleo Crafts Retreat. I wasn't entirely happy with it and tried to improve it after I came home but only with limited success. It just seems a bit unbalanced to me...

Ich habe dieses LO für eine der Scrapliftzirkelrunden im PBF angefangen, während ich auf dem Cleo Crafts Retreat war. Ich war nicht allzu zufrieden damit und habe versucht, es zuhause ein wenig zu verbessern, aber nur mit begrenztem Erfolg. Auf mich wirkt es ein wenig unausgewogen...

Using my kits - Part 3

For the next two LOs I used my March kit from Cleo Crafts. The papers are quite bright and colourful, so I was a bit apprehensive about using them. Once I saw the pictures of the corroded metal shell that is the Courtyard Theatre, I knew that I would be able to use them.

Für die nächsten zwei LOs habe ich mein Märzkit von Cleo Crafts benutzt. Die Papiere sind recht leuchtend und farbenfroh, weshalb ich ein wenig unsicher war, ob ich sie benutzen könnte. Als ich dann aber die Bilder von dem korrodierten Gehäuse, das das Courtyard Theatre ist, gesehen habe, wusste ich, dass ich eine Verwendung für die Papiere gefunden hatte.

This LO was all about fun. I had these random leftover pictures from the funfair that were quite colourful... So I figured that this would be a good chance to make another LO with these colourful papers ;)

Dieses LO dreht sich insgesamt um Spaß. Ich hatte diese vereinzelten, recht bunten Bilder von der Kirmes übrig... Da hab ich mir gedacht, dass das eine gute Gelegenheit wäre, ein weiteres LO mit diesen farbenfrohen Papieren zu machen ;)
And this my friends, is it - I think I've scrapped all my Stratford pictures! I might do another LO or two with all of the memorabilia that I've got here and I'll need to post the last LO once the current Chinese Whispers round is finished... but in general I'm done! And it feels good...

Und das, liebe Leser, war es dann - ich glaube, ich habe alle meine Bilder von Stratford verscrappt! Ich mache vielleicht noch ein oder zwei LO mit den kleinen Andenken, die ich mitgenommen habe, und ich muss noch ein weiteres LO posten, sobald der momentane Scrapliftzirkel vorbei ist... aber im Allgemeinen bin ich fertig! Und das fühlt sich gut an...

And another DLO. I am not entirely happy with it, somehow I don't like the way things are placed on the page. But at least I like two of the elements on the LO, namely the flowers that were cut out in the righthand bottom corner and the tag in the lefthand top corner. I used the January kit from Sarah's Cards.

Und ein weiteres Doppellayout. Ich bin nicht so ganz zufrieden damit, irgendwie gefällt mir die Anordnug doch nicht so ganz. Dafür mag ich aber wenigstens zwei der Elemente auf dem LO, zum einen die ausgeschnittenen Blumen unten rechts und zum anderen den Tag links oben. Benutzt habe ich das Januarkit von Sarah's Cards.

Here is another LO with one of Sarah's kits - the current March kit (April is to come later this month). I shifted the papers from one side to the other for what feels like ages but I'm OK with the result now.

Das hier ist ein weiteres LO mit einem von Sarahs Kits - das hier ist das aktuelle Märzkit (April kommt später diesen Monat raus). Ich hab die Papiere eine gefühlte Ewigkeit lang von einer Seite zur anderen geschoben, bin jetzt aber mit dem Ergebnis relativ zufrieden.

Using my kits - Part 1

So, I'm more than ever on my quest to make at least one layout out of every (new) kit I get. I had a bit of a backlog but made some very good progress last weekend.
So, ich habe mehr denn je das Ziel, aus jedem meiner (neuen) Kits mindestens ein Layout zu machen. Ich war ein bisschen hinten dran, habe aber letztes Wochenende gute Fortschritte gemacht.

This first DLO was made using Cleo Crafts' Alissa mini kit. I love the colours in this one and thought they didn't look too bad with these photos. Yet another Stratford LO... This was actually my second quest: Finish scrapping the pictures from Stratford!

Für dieses Doppellayout habe ich das Alissa Minikit von Cleo Crafts benutzt. Ich mag die Farben total gerne und fand, dass sie ganz gut zu diesen Fotos passen. Schon wieder ein Stratford LO... Das war nämlich mein zweiter Vorsatz: Scrappe die letzten Fotos von Stratford!

I used another Cleo Crafts kit for this LO, this time the April kit. Initially I wanted to use one of the other papers from the kit but then I couldn't bring myself to have this title with little bunnies, fawns and fox puppies... This also doubles up as an answer to the SLYMI challenge on UKS (#8 - Cut that photo).

Ich habe für dieses LO ein weiteres Kit von Cleo Crafts benutzt, dieses Mal das Aprilkit. Ursprünglich wollte ich eines der anderen Papiere aus dem Kit benutzen, konnte es dann aber nicht übers Herz bringen, bei diesem Titel (Essen, wunderbares Essen) Baby Häschen, Füchse und Rehkitze zu benutzen... Das Layout ist auch eine Reaktion auf die SLYMI Challenge auf UKS (#8 - Schnippel das Foto).

Layouts from my first retreat

I managed to finish 4 LOs and start a mini book during the Cleo Crafts retreat. I can't show the first LO yet because it was for yet another round of Chinese Whispers.
Ich habe während des Cleo Crafts Retreats 4 LOs fertig bekommen und ein Mini Book angefangen. Ich kann das erste LO noch nicht zeigen, weil es für einen weiteren Scrapliftzirkel entstanden ist.

Tara had created 2 sketch challenges and this is based on the first of them. The picture shows me on one of our snowy days earlier this year.
Tara hatte 2 Sketch Challenges gestellt und dieses LO ist auf der ersten davon basiert. Das Bild zeigt mich an einem der Schneetage Anfang diesen Jahres.

This LO is based on Tara's second sketch and the main reason why I didn't get to make more LOs... The LO just wouldn't cooperate with me, stubborn thing! I even took it to bed with me to work on the stitched area but it was still ungrateful. In the end I gave up after maaaaaany hours and decided to live with it as it was. This LO is part of my BoM; challenge 13 in the Paperbraut forum was "My family right now".
Dieses LO ist auf Taras zweitem Sketch basiert und der Hauptgrund, weshalb ich nicht mehr LOs geschafft habe... Das LO wollte einfach nicht mit mir zusammenarbeiten, dickköpfiges Ding! Ich hab es sogar mit ins Bett genommen, um ein wenig weiter an der Stickerei zu arbeite, aber es war trotzdem undankbar. Im Endeffekt habe ich dann nach viiiiielen Stunden aufgegeben und mich entschlossen, mich mit dem Ergebnis bis dahin zu begnügen. Dieses LO ist Teil meines BoMs; Challenge 13 im Paperbraut Forum war "Meine Familie genau jetzt".

I think I might have scared Louise a bit with this LO - 15 minutes before we were supposed to leave, she found me still in the sticking down phase and with scrapbooking supplies scattered all around me. Nevertheless I finished it calmly - and Nicole and I were among the first to arrive at the bus all packed and ready to go :)
Ich glaube, ich habe Louise mit diesem LO einen kleinen Schreck eingejagt - 15 Minuten, bevor wir abfahren sollten, hat sich mich beim Festkleben gefunden, mit lauter Materialien und Werkzeugen rund um mich herum verteilt. Trotz allem habe ich es ruhig fertig gemacht - und Nicole und ich waren unter den Ersten, die mit gepackten Koffern und Taschen fertig am Bus angekommen sind :)

You might have seen a few of the LOs in this post already - I'm playing catch up yet again... (And I'm trying to make this a scheduled post because I don't want several posts to appear at the same time.)
Ihr habt vielleicht ein paar dieser LOs schon gesehen - ich versuche mal wieder, hier auf den neuesten Stand zu kommen... (Und ich probiere aus, diesen Post zeitverzögert zu machen, weil ich nicht mehrere Posts gleichzeitig losschicken will.)

Ja, schon wieder ein LO von Stratford (und es kommen in der nahen Zukunft noch einige dazu):

Our garden... When we moved in last year, it had been neglected for several years. It is still far from perfect but we are happy with the results so far.

Unser Garten... Als wir letztes Jahr eingezogen sind, war er über mehrere Jahre hinweg vernachlässigt worden. Er ist immer noch lange nicht fertig, aber wir sind mit den bisherigen Ergebnissen zufrieden.


In January, a new challenge was posted in the PBF: Somebody would say a word and the next person would have to scrap whatever they associated with it. My prompt was "Fanclub Turnier" which was not that easy for me (what with never having been a member of a fanclub, etc). I ended up scrapping some pictures of me with friends meeting for musicals. The title is quite bold and big but each of the letters stands for one of the shows we've seen together.

Im Januar wurde eine neue Challenge im PBF gepostet: Jemand sagt ein Word, und der nächste muss verscrappen, was er damit assoziiert. Mein Wort war "Fanclub Turnier", was nicht einfach war (weil ich nie in einem Fanclub Mitglied war, etc). Im Endeffekt habe ich ein paar Bilder von mir mit Freunden bei Musicalbesuchen gescrappt. Der Titel ist ziemlich groß, aber jeder der Buchstaben steht für eine der Shows, die wir zusammen gesehen haben.

Ich habe auch noch ein paar Stratford LOs - ich glaube, jetzt sind nicht mehr allzu viele Bilder übrig und ich werde auch froh sein, wenn ich fertig bin ;)

This first one shows the path that linked the car park of our hotel with the Courtyard Theatre. Access was forbidden but the door was mostly open and it saved us a good 5 minutes walking time and led to a couple of interesting encounters :) Worth the trespassing each time...

Das erste zeigt den Durchgang, der den Parkplatz von unserem Hotel mit dem Courtyard Theatre verbindet. Der Zutritt war verboten, aber die Tür war eigentlich immer offen und es hat uns gute 5 Minuten Fußweg erspart - und zu ein paar interessanten Begegnungen geführt :) Das war den Hausfriedensbruch jedes Mal wert...


Our hotel had a great yummy selection for breakfast, so that had to get a page of its own as well...

Unser Hotel hatte eine tolle und leckere Auswahl zum Frühstück, deswegen musste es auch eine eigene Seite bekommen...

Das nächste LO ist auf einem Sketch von Shimelle im Zuge der "Scrap Like You Mean It" Challenge auf UKS basiert. Die Challenge besteht daraus, jede Woche ein LO zu einem spezifischen Prompt zu erstellen.

A bit of Stratford

I know by now you must be thinking that our whole lives revolve around our one holiday in Stratford but that's what 400+ pictures will do to you (and I've already been good and only had a tiiiiiny selection printed) ;)
Ich weiß, so langsam aber sicher muss jeder denken, dass unser gesamtes Leben sich nur um den einen Urlaub in Stratford dreht. Das passiert, wenn man mehr als 400 Fotos gemacht hat (und ich war doch schon brav und hab nur eine kliiiiiiiiitzekleine Auswahl an Fotos bestellt) ;)

The first picture shows me having a rest - hence the title. (My feet were killing me after all that sightseeing)

Das erste Foto zeigt, wie ich mich ausruhe - daher der Titel. (Meine Füße haben mich umgebracht nach dem ganzen Sightseeing)

And this is Anne Hathaway's Cottage as well. Just imagining walking from Stratford to the Cottage every evening, just to see my 'beloved', ... Thank God that we have buses and cars nowadays! But I have to admit that the Cottage is gorgeous!

Und hier haben wir Anne Hathaway's Cottage. Allein die Vorstellung, jeden Abend von Stratford zu dieser Cottage zu laufen um meine "Geliebte" zu sehen... Gott sei Dank haben wir heutzutage Busse und Autos! Ich muss allerdings zugeben, dass die Cottage wunderschön ist!

Grown up?

I made this LO in January but can only post it now because it was for another round of Chinese Whispers at Paperbraut. I used so many buttons and still hardly made a dent in my collection! I know somebody who's not allowed to buy buttons in the near future...
Ich habe dieses LO im Januar gemacht, konnte es aber erst jetzt posten, weil es für eine weitere Scrapliftzirkelrunde im PBF war. Ich hab schon so viele Knöpfe benutzt und trotzdem kaum etwas von meinem Bestand verbraucht! Ich kenne jemanden, der in der nahen Zukunft keine Knöpfe kaufen darf...

I'm not sure the journalling is legible, so let's just say that Nicole and I "had" to go back to Stratford 3 weeks after our first trip and queue for returns. Of course we chose the day where it was freezing cold and the journey was not easy (especially back) but it was worth it - we got tickets for both Love's Labour's Lost and Hamlet!

Ich weiß nicht, ob man das Journalling lesen kann - sagen wir einfach mal, dass Nicole und ich 3 Wochen nach unserem ersten Trip unbedingt nach Stratford zurück "mussten", um uns für Returns (Tages- und Restkarten) anzustellen. Natürlich haben wir uns einen bitterkalten Tag ausgesucht und die Fahrt (vor allem zurück) war auch nicht einfach... Aber es war es wert - wir haben sowohl Tickets für Love's Labour's Lost als auch Hamlet bekommen!

Cybercrop Part 1

The CC weekend was all a bit of a blur of crafting, crafting, snacking, crafting, sleeping a tiny bit and more crafting. Nevertheless I enjoyed it and got loads done (I've also changed some LOs after the CC because I had second thoughts). I'm sure I'll be forgetting some things but let's just go bit by bit.
Das Cybercrop Wochenende war ein Rausch aus Crafting, Crafting, Naschen, Crafting, ein bisschen Schlafen und mehr Crafting. Trotzdem hat es mir sehr viel Spaß gemacht und ich habe recht viel geschafft (ich habe hinterher ein paar LOs leicht geändert, weil sie mir noch nicht ganz gefallen haben). Ich bin sicher, dass ich ein paar Sachen vergessen werde, aber ich geh einfach mal Stück für Stück durch.

I continued to work on my Stratford album. The first batch of layouts are from the Shakespeare sites. Everything is based on classes or challenges at the CC.

Ich habe weiter an meinem Stratford Album gearbeitet. Die erste Gruppe an LOs sind für Fotos von den Shakespeare Sehenswürdigkeiten. Alles ist auf Classes oder Challenges vom CC basiert.

2 Layouts

The next two LOs will be part of my completely mis-matched birthday/Stratford album. Nicole and I went there for 4 days over my birthday last year. We had a brilliant time exploring the town and going to our first RSC performances. 

Die nächsten zwei LOs gehören zu meinem völlig unzusammenhängenden Geburtstags-/Stratfordalbum. Nicole sind letztes Jahr für 4 Tage über meinen Geburtstag da gewesen. Wir hatten sehr viel Spaß dabei, die Stadt zu erkunden und unsere ersten Vorstellungen der Royal Shakespeare Company anzuschauen.
